It’s always in the details.

Details of The Mini Shed

  • Attention to Detail

Every aspect of The Mini Shed has been designed with great attention to detail to ensure an amazing experience for all of the tap dancers.

  • Camper : Staff Ratio

Controlled camper to staff ratio is a standard at The Mini Shed. This ratio will be approximately 9:1 for dorms, classes, and activities

  • Dorms

Deer Ridge Lodge features 2 sets of bunk beds and a queen bed. There is an attached bathroom w/shower for each dorm. Bedding and towels are included with each dorm.

  • Dining

Meals will be in the Aspen Dining Hall served buffet style. The camp is able to accommodate many dietary restrictions. We will have a couple of meals outside of this: Breakfast in the Wild, Share Experience Pizza Party, etc. You will receive a link to a form for any dietary restrictions.

  • Day to Day

Each day will have at least one dance class, one improvisation workshop, and one classroom activity. Dancers will study historical footage and current day footage of tap dancers and get insight on how to relate this information to their journey in tap dance. Campers will have evening games and events each night.

  • Designated Camp Counselor

There will be a designated camp counselor specifically for the Mini Shed attendees who has been trained and has experience in week long camps. Their counselor will lead them to each activity and class.

  • Dance Classes

Tap classes will be on wood floors (is there any other way to tap dance?), taught by our famous faculty. They will also have an opportunity to take from select Woodshed mentors. We will host classroom discussions on: tap history, jazz music, and personal development.

  • Evening Activities

We will have Game Nights, Jams, and/or Footage each evening of the Mini Shed. Tap games are always a favorite with the students!

  • Safety

We view each activity with safety first at The Mini Shed Tap Camp. Our camp counselors will have the task of ensuring that each dancer gets enough sleep, food, and hydration - all extremely important components for high altitude. There is also a nurse on site at the YMCA and we have identified nearby urgent care facilities.
